Awards

The Schnell Diploma Award was established in 2014 for electrical engineering students at the Budapest University of Technology and Economics and once a year honors two or three young engineers at our annual closing event in the presence of the Rector of Budapest University of Technology and Professor Schnell’s son. The purpose of the award is to provide a motivation tool for graduate engineering students to complete their first serious professional work at a high level, while also providing them with the opportunity to choose a thesis topic in a direct industrial setting with a focus on practical industrial tasks.

Professor László Schnell, who was the leader of the Budapest University of Technology’s Department of Instrumentation and Measurement, has earned the honor of his environment through his professional work and through the unselfish support of young, talented and hardworking students, and we have been honored.

Incoming entries will be examined and evaluated by a panel of gambling experts on a scale from 1 to 10 for each aspect. It will consider the topic itself in terms of its novelty, pragmatic approach and depth of research work, as well as its elaboration. In the latter context, particular attention shall be paid to the logical and comprehensible structure and language of the analysis, and to the analyzes and illustrative forms used by applicants to enhance their comprehension. Finally, the overall impression, individual vision and language, and Gamma’s point of view, is firmly usable.

Péter Zalotay Diploma Award

In order to preserve the memory of the venerable Kandós instructor, who died in tragic suddenness in 2018, Gamma Digital Kft. And the Óbuda University Kálmán Kampa School of Electrical Engineering jointly established the Péter Zalotay Diploma Award.

The prize is awarded to graduate students of the Óbuda University who have submitted a good or outstanding qualification thesis or diploma thesis, who have defended their thesis in one of the following institutes:

  • KVK Institute of Automation
  • KVK Institute of Instrumentation and Automation
  • BGK Institute of Mechatronics and Vehicle Engineering

The Diploma Award is named after Péter Zalotay (1938-2018), associate professor who graduated in 1965 with a degree in electrical engineering from the Budapest University of Technology and Economics. From 1969, the year of its foundation until the day of his death, he was an active lecturer at the institute and its successor, Óbuda University. Péter Zalotay is responsible for the introduction of the Digital Technology course and the founding of the Control Engineering (later Programmable Controls) field. As a team leader, he created an excellent atmosphere. His main values were work and professional talent. He was selfless in his endorsement of talents, himself mostly in the background. His disciples are standing today in the world.

Gamma Dynamic Award
